Hollviken to Malmo – 28 miles.

Total distance cycled – 1200 miles.

On this journey I have turned into a beautiful swan, grown up from a little dwarf, found the golden egg, put on real clothes and turned into the handsome Prince you now see!

I’ve already been kissed!

What do you think I need to complete the fairytale journey! Well, all I need is my ‘Little Mermaid’ called Janice.

She is a day away and we will meet in Copenhagen tomorrow.

Meanwhile I have a short ride into Malmo. I was concerned that it would be an anticlimax….but it wasn’t at all.

I had taken a route that took me to probably the best view of Oresund Bridge. Tomorrow I will cross it on a train so this is the best view I will get.

I entered Malmo and I knew that there was more to see.

The city had some striking public art.
Malmo Football Club stadium.
They play in sky blue, a bit like Man City.

It have hardly mentioned that the cycling infrastructure through the whole trip has been amazing. For the whole route I would say that I have been on dedicated cycle paths for 90% of the time. Potholes are unheard of. Cycling is a mainstream activity for everyone. It’s been a fabulous cycling experience.

Arriving in the city felt special.

Another public sculpture outside the Art Museum.

Having mentioned the fermented herring yesterday called ‘surstromming’. I felt I needed to visit the Disgusting Food Museum!

There was lots of dodgy food. There were some foods that I actually liked….especially some of the cheeses, black pudding and haggis.

But….there was a tasting session which included silkworm, mealworms, black ants, bamboo worms, durian and the dreaded surstromming! It was truly awful. I followed it by the chilli test. I only managed the first chilli before I ‘retired hurt’ but I could still taste the bloody herring!

Here is a little test… what do you think this is?

What do you think?

I headed off to find my hotel to give my stomach a rest.

Actually I am giving my legs a rest too.

After 4 weeks of riding and 1200 miles they will enjoy a relax. It is certainly an achievement that I have thoroughly enjoyed.

I will do a review post in a day or two. My next priority is getting to Copenhagen and seeing my own ‘Princess’.

I better tell you what was in the photo. It was Sheep’s Eyeball in tomato juice….mmm!

Disappointed you didn’t cycle over the bridge 😜
Actually I’ve seen it twice – once from Copenhagen and the other time in the scandi noir drama called ….. the bridge!!
I hope your digestive system has settled down in time for meeting your princess – the mixture of things you have been sampling would have had a dramatic effect on my bowels!!

Cyclists are not allowed to ride over the bridge! I would love to do it…although with my wind from what I’ve eaten would mean I might not need to pedal.

Thanks for reading the blog. Glad it had given you some amusement.

Have a great holiday. You should do a blog!!!
