Malmo to Ystad – 55 miles.
Yesterday was sunny then dull. Today turned out the opposite.
I didn’t try to get an early start….it just happens. I wake up before 7am, have breakfast and I’m riding by 7.45am. It suits me fine.
I have been a little surprised about how quiet the city is on a Saturday morning. In the UK there would already be a lot of people and traffic around.
As I left Malmo I got a sight of something that is very Swedish….

Here is a little song by the Lancashire Hotpots about IKEA. If you only read this on email you will probably need to go to the actual blog website to get the song. It’s a good one.
It was a lovely cycling day….very flat, no rush, and only a slight breeze.
I didn’t expect much of the route but there was plenty to stop and see.

No sign of sun yet! But…it will come.

It’s a place called Smygehamn. The lighthouse was open so, of course, I went to the top.

I have gone upmarket with the hotel. I was told it’s the oldest hotel in Sweden.

The price was very good for the quality of the hotel. Needless to say I will not be dining in tonight.
I have found somewhere for traditional Swedish meatballs.

The restaurant is called Store Thor! Which made me realise that I haven’t mentioned the heroic God of Nordic mythology. I got a knife and fork and a hammer for my meal!! Not really! The meal was very tasty. The berries are lingonberries, which taste somewhere between a cranberry and a redcurrant, or so I’m told! Very scrumptious.
I’ve got another little surprise for you tomorrow. I’m nipping back to Denmark, but just for the morning?
Please spend the rest of the evening listening to the Lancashire Hotpots.
