Burg to Maribo 21 miles
Today has been an emotional rollercoaster.
I mentioned that I had someone sharing the room…well to be Frank (because that was his name), he was trying to be quiet but wasn’t too good at it. He came in and woke me, he went to the toilet and woke me and then he snored!
This morning I woke early because Frank was leaving at 6am. I was definitely sleepy!
My nose was blocked and I had a bout of being sneezy too.
I looked at the rainy and windy forecast and I was grumpy.
I packed up and carried by bike down the stairs and slipped on the bottom step and stupidly fell over. I felt dopey! Thankfully I didn’t need Doc.
However, I got on the road and cycled to the ferry port and I just clicked onto 1000km on my cycle computer. It is a major milestone for the trip and it made me feel happy!
Why wouldn’t I feel happy….I am going into Denmark for the first time in my life and also into Scandinavia for the first time. I will become ‘hygge’, whatever that means?

I’ve been examining my elbow and knee after my fall….and I feel bash-ful!
Hurray, I have squeezed all the seven dwarfs into one blog. High-ho!
It only took about 40 minutes on the ferry before we landed at Rodbyhaven.
I was expecting lots of neat multicoloured houses as soon as I arrived but it wasn’t quite like that. Apart from the different language on the signs it didn’t seem much different.
It was quiet on a Sunday morning. Maybe they were busy inside being hygge.
It was a bit drizzly but I enjoyed the ride through to Maribo.

I went walking to find by bearings.

The food is so pretty when it arrives and then I cut into it and it all falls over. Anyway, it tasted gorgeous.
I was half expecting a town called Maribo would sell those jelly gum sweets that are sold everywhere but I didn’t see any. Nevertheless I thought the town was ‘tangfastic’.
I had a pleasant evening walk and I complete the blog sitting on the edge of the lake.
My plan over the next days is developing nicely. I’m keeping it a secret, especially from my brother David who tries to guess each morning….and of course he gets it wrong.
The Danish is coming along nicely….dont you think!
