Lubeck to Burg on Fehmarn Island – 55 miles.
Not too much of a rush today. I had a leisurely breakfast and set off from the lovely Lubeck as it was waking up on a Saturday morning.
I was surprised by another poster I saw as I was riding…

Happily the wind was helping me today. It makes a big difference.
I had my first ever sight of the Baltic Sea.

I passed through Neustadt and Oldenburg. Both are in the region of Holstein.

…and I came across these beauties…

I crossed the last bridge to the last island in Germany.

I stayed at a hostel in Burg. I expected a quiet little place but…

It was a bit of a shock. I turned up on my bike. Fastened it up and did my normal thing of having a look around the church (thinking that it might be the most worthy thing to see) but I walked another 50 yards and the place was full of Harley Davidsons!

There was also a stage set up with bands playing rock music. It’s a while since I heard someone play Status Quo’s ‘Rocking All Over The World’. It was great.

It is quite a touristy place and there is a South Beach area and a harbour which looked nice.

Nice blue skies but not hot enough for being on the beach.
I am staying in a hostel tonight and I booked a three bed room. Stupidly I thought it might be all for me…but a Harley Davidson guy turned up with the same key number. No problem. I will be disturbing him in the morning getting up early.
Tomorrow I will be going by ferry to Denmark. Tonight I am learning the language….it can’t take long…it’s only a small country?
