Bremerhaven to God knows where via Cuxhaven 48 miles.

Probably the best weather day so far. It got pretty hot.

Day 7 started as it should with a big buffet breakfast. As I was polishing off my fruit salad course. The fruit salad (with yoghurt) comes after the cereal course and before the sliced meat sandwich course…of course. Anyway a man came to sit at the table next to me….and to say that his personal hygiene was lacking would be an understatement. It was so lacking I had to switch to a seat further away from him! It got me thinking that my cycle clothing was two days old….maybe someone might move away from me and I wasn’t aware! By the grace of god!!

I am seven days into the trip and whilst I wash my clothes in a sink on a regular basis I may need to think again. I have booked accommodation tomorrow and saw a washing machine in one of the online photos. I just need to get through tomorrow without causing an international nose incident.

Tomorrow could be the day I need to wear my Emperors New Clothes? I bet only stupid people will not see the grandeur of my ‘new clothes’. We will see what happens…

On with today’s journey to Cuxhaven and then onto a very rural accommodation.

Thankfully my thumb feels fine.

I passed a Military Airbase with this outside and I was directed by Komoot along a dodgy sandy path!

Whilst I may go by the grace of God I actually put my trust in ‘Komoot’ (the route finding app). It is pretty good at picking my routes and I absolutely depend on it. This sandy track was actually signed as a cycle path so Komoot cannot be blamed. It hasn’t let me down on this trip, fingers crossed.

The town of Cuxhaven, interestingly, is twinned with Penzance! It is quite a large sea port with regular ferries going to Heligoland Islands. Very popular with tourists from what I have seen.

Old water tower.
Double decker pier.
A semaphore signaller. Never seen one of these before.

I spent a couple of hours exploring and relaxing in the sunshine on the pier too.

My journey was only half done. I enjoyed a bit of coastal cycling, then…

No dykes to be found.

I found a supermarket to buy provisions because I didn’t think my accommodation would have anything!

Next to the chicken run.
The bathroom!

It is definitely rustic. The hut on wheels is supposed to be for up to 3 people…in one bed! I like countryside and rustic but this feels a bit like ‘the Emperor’s New Clothes’ too. It will be memorable and I’m very pleased I brought some food because I don’t think there are shops within 10 miles.

That being said, it will cater for my needs tonight. I love the different experiences. When I showed the place to Janice she suggested I have Chicken in a Basket because Coq au Vin wouldn’t be allowed!! On that smutty note I will say good night.

Hamburg tomorrow. Guess what I was looking for on the menu?
