First things first- today is Jan and my wedding anniversary….and I am away cycling again. I’m not sure that I can continue on these trips by bribing her, in this case with a new kitchen. It gets a bit expensive.
We had our breakfast and cycled through the city to find the market was in full swing.

We picked up cheese, bread and sausage rolls for lunchtime.
I predicted four things for the day….sunshine, wind, no hills and a route by water. Guess what? I was right on all counts.
Our first stop was at Schoonhoven which is famous for its silver jewelers.

The cycling was gorgeous and not surprisingly we passed a few windmills.

Onward to Leerdam for lunchtime. The city has its own cheese and is also famous for its glass.

The glass was very beautiful but I couldn’t fit any in my pannier.

The blue ice cream was ‘Smurf’ flavour. The Smurfs were Dutch! I asked the girl who served me if any Smurfs were injured to make the ice cream. She said not but I asked where they came from. Apparently they grew in the back of the shop!! Mmm, I’m not convinced!
I tried some Leerdamer cheese it was nice but it was full of holes and I refused to pay for the holes!
We cycled onward to Dordrecht.

We found our accommodation. The place is nice but the sleeping arrangements are in pods.

We walked around into town and had an explore. There’s lots to see.
Here are a few photos. Bin have been subjected to AI!

Dordrecht has a lot to offer. I was told by a Dutchman that it was a ‘proper’ Dutch city and it seems that way to me.
We headed off to bed….I thought you should see the inside of a pod…just so you can share the experience.

Happy Anniversary Janice. Xxx
Night night. Zzz.
