I hope I didn’t offend any nuns in yesterday’s blog. The nun, in white habit, was in the lunchtime photo….and it looked to me as if three men were chasing her? I think it could be a new Dan Brown novel in motion?

Today was a relatively short drive….

We had great views of the mountains with snow….already.

We drove to this city and parked on our new campsite by mid morning. We immediately got on bikes and headed for the centre as we had lots to pack in today.

Our cycle ride into the new city was along a river that is named after one of the tellytubbies!

Can you guess the city from the rooftop view?

I don’t want to give the game away too early.
This is the Palazzo Real which houses a major museum.

Adjoining the Palazzo is the Chieso Di San Lorenzo and the Cattedrale Di San Giovanni Battista.

We visited the Chieso first….

In a side room we found this long photo. Any clue as to what it is?

The photo is obviously a copy of the real thing which is now housed in the Cattedrale in an air tight container that cannot be seen by the public. The photo is actually more revealing when seen as a negative, so here’s part of it as a negative.

You might be getting it now?
The Cattedrale from the front. Very Italian baroque on the inside.

Across the road was another amazing sight.

The Porta Palatina. Parts of it are the original gate to the city.
Caesar Augustus with Maximius Ludicrus.

We had a lovely lunch in Piazza Carlo Emanuele II in pleasant sunshine….accompanied by a glass of Vino Blanco.

Simple Rigatoni Carbonara but appropriate for the day.

Next was the ice cream….and the location was special….

This is the Mole Antonelliana. It is the tallest building of the city centre by far and houses the museum of Cinema. Mole in Italian means a building of monumental proportions.

We continued our walk and cycle around the city centre. There was so much to see and so relaxed for an Italian city.

This was the Museum of Italian Unification.
Ice cream number two in Piazza San Carlos.

The city hosted the Winter Olympics in 2006.

Even the railway station looked stylish.

We had a great visit to the city and crammed a lot in. We didn’t actually visit any of the museums but were tempted on the way back to the motorhome by the National Motorcar Museum.

We called into the foyer and shop and took a fancy to this car in particular.

What a great day. Do you know where we are or is it shrouded in mystery?
