Didn’t you do well. Of course the mention of the Beautiful South was a reference to the musical group who had a single called ‘Rotterdam’.

The amazing Market Hall in The city.

So that was Destination 1. You will have got Destination 2 from the pottery, I’m sure. It was the smaller city of Delft. I thoroughly recommend it for a true Dutch experience.

We have made a final decision about our final destination. It’s the only firm decision we have made for the journey. We will, of course, keep that information between Jan and myself. One other snippet I can tell you is that this trip has one whole month duration from today’s date. I’m not sure I can keep up the suspense, nor am I sure you can cope with the nonsense I write for so long either. Good luck.

Onward to today’s destination.

It is with relief that I can show the photos I took today without fear that they will necessarily give away the location unless you have personally been yourself. So here goes

What is it? A Kastel, a Schloss or a Chateau?
It has extensive formal grounds. Jan and I have a thing about making the fountain look as if it’s coming from the top of our heads in our photos!
It has a lovely deer park. I was trying to spot Bambi.
Very gothic?

The castle is famous for throwing parties for the rich and famous during September each year. They do anything for a good laugh!

The inside was grander than the outside.
This Grand Hall was once an open courtyard that was roofed around 1900ish.

We saw a bed slept in by Gregory Peck. Other visitors included the Rothchilds, Maria Callas, Brigitte Bardot French President Pompidou….and Roger Moore. Apparently Roger Moore forgot to pack his socks….he raised an eyebrow when he realised, he was, merely, ‘shaken but not stirred’!

I thought I needed to toughen up the clues today. It must have been easy yesterday.

Where are we? No it’s not a National Trust property, we paid good euros for this visit. Ha Ha.

Think it could be De Harr Castle towards Utrech. Named after the well known pop group A Ahh…

The castles seem evenly spread across the country. Tha Batenburg Castle might be a piece of cake.😁
