Yesterday’s grand mansion was Ickworth Estate near Bury St Edmunds. It was an Italianate Palace built by the Hervey family who became the Marquess’ of Bristol even though they had no connection to the city of Bristol!

You are correct in assuming that we arrived in The Netherlands today.

What a glorious day.
Kate Winslet couldn’t make the trip!

We arrived on time and drove to our first stop. I can’t tell you where exactly as it might help with tomorrow’s destination. Tonight’s stop isn’t part of the game but we sneaked onto the last place available at the site.

It feels very Dutch already. We have seen the canals, bridges and a windmill.

The Eagle had landed….Let Destination Y commence!

We wasted no time in going into the nearest town on our bikes. We particularly enjoyed our self service canal ferry….

Brilliant!

We couldn’t resist going into the first supermarket we came to. We bought….

Dutch cheese and my favourite….Stroopwafels. They are a waffle sandwich with caramel in the middle and you put them on top of a hot coffee cup to soften the caramel. Mmmm! You will get plenty of waffle on this trip.

I was expecting to see the Morrison chain of supermarkets over here. They would be rebranded as ‘Van Morrison’!

We will start the competition tomorrow so get ready.

Tot Zien (See you later).
