Travelling to Stamford.
I drove to David’s house in the morning and we loaded up his car to travel onwards to Stamford. Peter is joining us tomorrow. We diligently loaded up the bikes on his new bike rack and locked them in place with David’s thick bike lock and we set off early in the afternoon.
Half way towards Stamford David remembered that he hadn’t brought the key for the bike lock. Whoops! He must be thick as two short planks. He gets the silly idiom award of the day! But I thought here by the grace of God go I and I turned the other cheek to avoid rubbing it in. We turned around and drove back for the key. We arrived in Stamford about two hours later than anticipated, around 5.30pm, and found our apartment.

Before long we were walking the streets of Stamford and we stumbled across the Rutland Morris Dancers celebrating St George’s Day in the Sheep Market area of town.

We got quite a performance….and actually more than we bargained for.

We managed to squeeze a few pints of local ale.

I will take some town photos tomorrow and hopefully we will be on our bikes for the first ride of the trip.
