I had said that today was a day for travelling north.

We past the city famous for making nougat and the big city that ‘roars’. We continued north and slightly east to our new destination.

It is twinned with Northwich and sits on the Doubs river.

I had expected rain and it must have rained here before we arrived but happily the sun was out for us again.

Within moments of arriving in the town we were informed that it was the birthplace of the chap who identified the principles of vaccinations for rabies, cholera and anthrax!

I nearly forgot his name….Louis Pasteur….he pasteurised our milk too.

The town is very much built of stone and has some pretty waterways by the Rhin-Rhone canal.

Such a beautiful town….and we can park on a large car park between the Doubs and the canal admiring the view straight across to the church.

We had an evening walk too.

Super cute.

We have stayed here for free. It almost feels like we are being paid to do nothing. What would they call that?
