Our journey today was again westward and about an hour long. We have come to a place in the area where Peter Mayle based his book ‘A Year in Provence’.

We needed a site with some facilities and found a pleasant small rustic place that also makes its own wine and olive oil.

We cycled through pretty villages to the nearest mid sized town that we will call our destination today.

This village named Ansouis was underlined in red on our AA Road Atlas and is therefore worth a visit. The church is incorporated inside the fortress chateau.
Narrow streets and a clock tower.
An amazing ruined chateau at La Tour d’Aigues.

Our destination had a very large clock tower and church. It is close to (but not on) the Durance river.

Very grand interior.

The town name sounds like an actor’s surname who was once Dr Who! He was also very friendly with Aunt Sally??

The town is twinned with Alton in England….that’s where Alton Towers is….but I can’t see any similarities?

Our last stop on our bike ride was Etang de La Bonde….

Doesn’t that look nice.

We have another night on this site so another day tomorrow without a guess. We have more villages to visit as the cycling routes are wonderful and the weather is just perfect.
