Of course we are in the Italian city of Asti. The wine is Asti Spumante a light fizzy wine that no one seems to drink nowadays….at least not in the UK.

Today we actually visited the city centre. In the absence of a new location to guess, you have to look at today’s photos and spot the ‘nun on the run’! It’s better than the ‘spot the ball’ football competition!

We were a brief 10 minutes cycle ride into the centre but in that short time we witnessed several incidents of ‘Italian’ driving temperament. Pulling out at junctions in front of us. Reversing back into mopeds. Raised voices between drivers and speedy acceleration! How can it be possible for so many stereotypes to be confirmed in such a brief time? Maybe the stereotypes are actually real.

The city had gone to great lengths to put banners and decorations across all streets. It felt very jolly.

This street had umbrellas as decorations.
Torre Comentina in Piazza Roma.
Jan is posing particularly well today. The church is the Colliegiata el San Secundo.
Very different from the German churches we have visited.
We visited the Palazzo Mazzetti museum. It displayed mainly artwork but I always think the decorative rooms and the building itself are the most interesting things to see.

We decided that we couldn’t wait any longer to have a pizza in Italy….

We got a quick take away in the main square.
This was our lunchtime view!

The afternoon forecast was for rain and Jan had hung our washing out to dry….but we risked a quick ride to the Decathlon store on the edge of town. I managed a few purchases and timed our return perfectly to bring in the washing just as the rain started.

Well, did you spot the nun? Whatever you do, don’t get in the ‘habit’!
