….with the Sound of Music. I love that film…. But first, I need to clear up our current location as Lindau. The pictures in yesterday’s blog were stunning. The clues were the Lindy Hop, the similarity with Landau horse drawn carriages and the Rapunzel tower.

We stayed overnight at a car park on the very edge of Germany’s border with Austria. Today, we cycled into Austria. Sorry to tell you that we had wonderful weather again. I don’t like saying too much about the glorious weather when I know it’s a bit wet back home. I’m not rubbing it in. Honestly!

We move on again tomorrow so I will tell you where we went today. It was Bregenz.

I told you it was good weather. It has lovely harbours and promenade.

Jan and I stayed here in 2019 so we were refreshing our memories of the place.

The Bregenz Schloss was looking good. It’s not open to the public.

I mention ‘The Hills are Alive because Austria reminds me of the Sound of Music film of my childhood. I remember watching it at the Burnley Odeon cinema (which no longer exists). Since then I have often been told to keep my big ‘Von Trapp shut’.

St Martin’s Tower rang a few bells for us!
The city centre wasn’t quite as quaint as Lindau but it wasn’t so shabby!

We continued to cycle out to where the Rhine enters the Bodensee.

There are several entry points of the Rhine Delta.

We didn’t quite make it to the Swiss border at this end of the lake but we have now visited the inbound point and outbound point of the Rhine.

We tootled back to the van again for a much needed shower and a schnitzel….in that order!

We have hard decisions to make over the next few days about our direction. Whichever way we travel could have a fundamental impact on the rest of our trip. You never know we could end up travelling to ‘Infinity and Beyond’!
