Ride to Peterborough- 60km.
Our last riding day commenced in lovely still conditions. We cycled out through lovely villages of Uffingham, Helpford and Castor. The route was a blast from the past for me as Janice and I worked at a Caravan Club site for 6 months in 2018 at Ferry Meadows near Peterborough and we often cycled to Stamford.
Our coffee stop was in Nene Country Park which is a beautiful wetland and lake area.

We did a cycle tour of the caravan site. We have so many stories to tell about the time we worked here.

The Cathedral is one of the nations best Norman Cathedrals. It is the burial place of Queen Catherine of Aragon who was divorced by Henry VIII. We sat outside to eat our third pie in three days. It is said that three Melton Mowbray pies in the hand is worth two Cornish pasties in the bush!

We retraced our steps towards Stamford, leaving the jewel in the crown till last….

Burghley House is in the top ten stately homes in the country. We donned our Vernon shirts for the visit. Had another ice cream and a good walk around.

The weather had been better than forecast so we returned to Stamford for some more beer but no skittles were available proving the idiom correct that our trip all beer and no skittles. We could have amended the saying to be all beer, pies and no skittles.
We sat out in Sheep Market again and enjoyed the buzzy atmosphere.
We had a good night trying looking for skittles without success.
