Friday 6th October 2023. Lyon.

A gentle day of Lyon sightseeing only means one thing for the Vernons….walking for miles around the city!

We caught the bus and the metro into the city and had a good look around the central part (between the Saône and the Rhône).

Wide main shopping street.
Hôtel Dieu. This part is a chapel but there is a big part of the building which has been converted into a high class shopping centre which incorporates its main features….
….including Cloisters.
Palais de la Bourse.
Parc de la Tete d’Or. It included a vast boating lake, zoo, botanical garden and velodrome.
We started to get in the mood for the France v Italy match that is taking place in the city stadium tonight. There were plenty of French outfits on display and people making their way to the match.
I supported France for the day and bought a France shirt to show it.

We didn’t stay late in the city but returned to the site and watched the match in the campsite bar. It was a bit of a France walk over. They won 60-7 and we managed an early ..ish night. It’s a big day tomorrow and Janice needs her beauty sleep!
